For the opening of the International Festival of Baalbeck, the legendary Marcel Khalifé will offer his most beautiful repertoire on the steps of the temple of Bacchus. He will be accompanied by the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra conducted byLubnan Baalbaki and by the NDU choir directed by Father Khalil Rahme. This unique evening will be like a glimmer of hope in these difficult moments, an ode to the homeland and a celebration of the themes dear to this singer of freedom, love, and Arabity.

After having offered her audience four superb albums, more than ten years of tours, 300 concerts presented in the biggest halls, Melody Gardot has been able to pave a way for herself on the world stage. Her participation in 2017 in Baalbeck Festival, at the concert of Ibrahim Maalouf certainly left its marks. On the steps of the temple of Bacchus, with her jazz-blues music, the captivating songwriter interprets with her velvet voice, will offer us a great moment of emotion.

After the success of Baalbeck remembers Oum Kalthoum in 2018 and on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Abdel Halim Hafez, the International Festival of Baalbeck will pay tribute to the one who marked the oriental music with an indelible seal. A film-concert featuring scenes from the films of the so-called Brown Nightingale, as well as a selection of his greatest songs performed by the talented Mohammed Assaf, the star who never stopped shining with his captivating voice since his victory at Arab Idol. The orchestra composed of 50 musicians will be conducted by Egyptian conductor and composer Hisham Gabr, with the participation of his compatriots, singer Noha Hafez and video artist Amir Ramses.

This masterpiece of sacred music will be served by an extraordinary cast: soprano Maria Agresta and mezzo Daniela Barcellona will combine their sumptuous and nuanced voices with those of the great tenor Giorgio Berrugi and one of the best bass currently John Relyea. Under the inspired baton of Toufic Maatouk, the Rumanian Radio Chamber Orchestra and the Antonine University Choir will perform this masterly score in the heart of the Bacchus Temple. Baalbeck welcomes this summer Jain, the rising French star. In figures, Jain is more than 90 million access to her titles Come and Makeba on Youtube. Her 2015 debut album Zanaka earned her the Victoire de la musique for the Female singer of the year and a Grammy nomination. Jain confirms her success with her second album Souldier released in 2018. She now compiles hundreds of concerts around the globe, proving her incredible stage talent. Oud Around the World

Temple of Bacchus

Oud Around The World is an invitation to travel through different musical cultures in a spirit of peace and tolerance. World-renowned virtuoso Omar Mounir Bashir will be performing in the Bacchus Temple performing traditional music from Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey, mixing Latin and Indian tunes, Bashir family compositions and meditative music. He will be accompanied by a set of 7 musicians, a section of brass and wood and will present among other pieces of his latest album The Dancing Oud. By experimenting with the fusion of the oud and the guitar, he opened the way to new possibilities for oud players from all over the world. He recently received a Platinum award from Universal Music rewarding him for the outstanding sale of his albums.
