Gwyneth Paltrow at the Hamptons

Gwyneth Paltrow

On this month’s CNN Style, host Derek Blasberg heads to the Hamptons to discover what has drawn generations of artists, designers and eccentrics to the neighborhood.

In the episode, Blasberg catches up with Gwyneth Paltrow, whose lifestyle brand Goop is opening a pop-up shop in the Hamptons this summer. Paltrow’s team have styled an 18th Century house in Amagansett and filled each room with Goop approved products. The actress also appears to be getting the whole family involved; her children will be working at the pop-up store over the summer months.

Paltrow on her children working in the pop-up shop:

«I live just around the corner so it’s easy for me to come pop in and my kids are going to start working in the store in a couple of weeks, which is great. I’m going to put them to work!»

Paltrow and the careful curation of the pop-up’s gardening room:

«The Hamptons is historically a lot of farmland and things grow really well here. A lot of people have kitchen gardens or little vegetable boxes. We thought it would be a nice nod to the history of the Hamptons to have tools for cultivating plants and herbs, and we have our cookbooks here.»

Paltrow on her childhood experiences in the Hamptons:

«I never could have imagined when we were buying hair dye at the local pharmacy, dying our hair and sneaking parents’ cigarettes, that we would end up here! But I’m very grateful that we have.»

Paltrow on her childhood affinity with the Hamptons:

«I actually started coming here when I was eighth grade and it was a much different place back then. It was not anywhere near as happening and chic… it was very old-school and I fell in love with it. I always feel like there’s something inherently cosy about it.»
