The elite of showbiz gathered at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, for the 2017 Met Gala and the annual costume institute exhibition under the theme Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garçons.

Rei Kawakubo is the first living designer since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983, to be the sole subject of the Met’s blockbuster fashion exhibit.

Model Ashley Graham wore a corset dress influenced by Kawakubo’s interest in revealing the inner workings of garments. An off-white corset was subtly deconstructed, while a long red silk skirt was boned and fastened by hook-and-eyes, both decorated with exuberant ruffles of dark red silk organza.
