Damien Chazelle, the young and talented 32-year-old director, was the star of the 89th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Winner of the Best Director Award for «La La Land», the neo-musical film that won six Oscars, including Best Actress awarded to Emma Stone. Presented by Jimmy Kimmel, the evening created a surprise with «Moonlight», the story of a young black gay in Miami, receiving three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor. As for the Best Actor in a Leading Role award, it was awarded to Casey Affleck for the film «Manchester by the sea».
